Pre-Training Camp 2018 Fantasy Football Rankings

By Evan Birchfield

Greetings Rise Up Readers, it is I, Evan Birchfield, here with the first of my Fantasy Football articles in 2018. Following a rather slow offseason, and with the NFL Draft now over, we can look forward to the regular season.

If you recall, last year I would do a weekly article with my projections of how Falcons players would perform for that week. This year I’m going to continue doing the same, with the addition of my projection for the top 10 NFL performers for that week, per position. For this article, I am going to give a top 5 per position (PPR) heading into Training Camp.

With that being said, let’s get started! Continue reading

On the Brink of a New Falcons Season: For Us, For Them, For 28-3

By Cory Woodroof

Flash-forward with me to February 2018.

It’s Super Bowl Sunday. Your friends are coming over for the big game, you’ve got the pre-shows on while vacuuming the living room. Pizzas will be arriving soon. Kickoff’s in a little bit.

Who’s playing?

Of course the Patriots. Bleh, forget those guys. They’re here every year. Went 13-3 in the regular season, Belichick never sounded happy about it, waltzed through the playoffs (well, the Steelers gave them a run for their money in the AFC Championship, but of course, Brady weapon number 145 came down with that one catch they won’t stop playing on ESPN).

The other team? Continue reading

The Terribly Amazing 2016 Atlanta Falcons Season

By Cory Woodroof

Can things be both amazing and terrible at the same time?

It seems paradoxical to the point of defeating to try and make a thing both good and bad in order to properly frame it, but such is the difficulty of trying to look at a sports season.

Great things can happen! But, then, it can end in the worst way imaginable. Brighter days ahead! But boy, those scars still burn. What a wonderful time! But, good golly, the way we left things. Continue reading

Super Bowl 51: On Losing, Losing Horribly and Rising Up Again

By Cory Woodroof

When New England Patriots RB James White ran in the game-sealing touchdown to close out the Pats’ miracle comeback, the jubilation filled the air for a great many in Houston.

The “goat” completed his magnum opus – Tom Brady orchestrated a history-setting deficit eraser that put a fifth ring on his hand and likely cements him as the best to ever play the quarterback position.

But, the fingers that type this story didn’t stick around for the Lombardi presentation. No, no, this story is written by a fan of the team who relinquished the 28 point lead. This is about the other team in this year’s big game – the Atlanta Falcons. Continue reading

Falcons Must Right an Old Wrong to Achieve Super Bowl Glory

By Cory Woodroof

You couldn’t have scripted it better than this.

The Atlanta Falcons, a franchise of constant sorrow for 51 years, rises like the dirty bird from the ashes of disappointment and mounts a miracle season to propel them to Super Bowl 51.

These fantastically-fated Falcons will face off against the Big Daddy of all post-2000 football programs in the big game – the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick New England Patriots, winner of four Lombardi trophies and crushers of worlds. Continue reading

Falcons Set Date with Destiny in Packers Rematch after Seahawks Win

By Cory Woodroof

You knew it was going to come down to this, right?

The Atlanta Falcons’ miracle season – the one neither me, you, Todd McClure or Freddie Falcon could’ve seen coming – heads towards the pantheon of playoff destiny, with Atlanta’s David about to square off against two of football’s towering Goliaths. Continue reading
