Dontari Poe has been the talk of town ever since signing with the Atlanta Falcons in March, providing the team with an athletic veteran defensive tackle to pair with budding DT Grady Jarrett.
Poe, the former first round pick out of Memphis, spent the first few years of his career in Kansas City, where he became known for his ability to clog the middle, creating issues for opposing run games. He can also get after the passer with his athleticism. Poe has struggled with weight issues, which have caused him to have some back problems while in the league, and from being overused in Kansas City.
In Atlanta, Poe has trimmed down his weight and will not be so heavily relied on, which should give Poe one of his best chances to succeed in quite some time. The Falcons unleashed Poe against Miami in their first preseason game, offering a taste of how the new DT will do in Dan Quinn’s scheme.
Video specialist Daniel Spencer broke down Poe’s snaps during the Miami game, seeing how he performed for his first go-around with the Falcons.
